After connecting the dots and in light of the events that unfolded after Sir Rahi passed away, we can say with confidence that Sir Rahi's assets including his paintings were under serious threat from the perpetrators (Moiz Malik qabza group) since at least last few years before his passing. We have tried our best to capture some of the points below to help understand the truth.
To everyone's shock and surprise Hajra Mansoor filed a police report against her own son, accusing him of taking some of his father's paintings even though Sir Rahi never filed any complaints nor did he ever mentioned anything like that to anyone. We believe that this is a tactic used to eliminate Sir Rahi's son as a potential blocker and as an opportunity to pressurize him. The initial police report was discharged by the police after initial investigation but the The Moiz Malik group was able to force the police through the courts and reinvestigate by filing an FIR.
The FIR was eventually filed that triggered a thorough and lengthy investigation against Sir Rahi's son. He was accused of a theft worth 1 Billion rupees, qualifying as the biggest accusation of its kind in the nation's history. The investigation involved multiple levels within police as well as secret-services to provide detailed data, travel records, etc. The Moiz Malik qabza group was prepared with the media campaign and launched it on social AND mainstream media within 24 hours of the filing of the FIR. (See the Fake News page for the campaign). It is important to reiterate here that we consider ANY media coverage regarding this matter that shows a one-sided view of the story without any proof or evidence as "fake news".
This was the first time that Danish Rahi's own sources were brought into action by his wife Falah D. Rahi. Multiple top-level segments were mobilized immediately establishing formal communication lines with legal, law-enforcement, diplomatic, and social sectors. Danish was not in the country at the time but knowing that it was a fabricated case that can have a negative impact on his father's legacy, he decided to immediately return to face the law and clear his name.
The mobilized apparatus was able to provide a safe passage of entry, it mitigated pressure from the Moiz Malik qabza group to engage Interpol, issue a red warrant or any type of arrests. It was able to maintain privacy from media in respect of Sir Rahi and his legacy, at the same time successfully reversing major media snowballing, which could have caused an insult to the entire nation.
The investigation continued for weeks and months, requiring Danish to appear in courts and police stations multiple times and answer questions. However, soon after the investigation started it started becoming clear to the investigators that it is a fabricated case.
After reviewing all the evidence and facts, the case was concluded in the favor of Danish. The perpetrators including Hajra, Saima, and Jawad Moiz group have now earned the status of certified liars.
Age or gender cannot and should not be the basis of any truth.
Few Interesting Questions:
As per the FIR the theft took place in January 2024. Why didnt Sir Rahi filed a complaint himself despite of being healthy enough to go to Murree every weeks until just few weeks before his passing in May 2024?
Why didnt Hajra filed a complaint or lodged an FIR when Sir Rahi was alive?
Why was the FIR filed in September instead of January of 2024? This was not days or weeks, but months after the actual incident - when Jawad Moiz group was trying to takeover and sell all of Sir Rahi's property and assets (several proofs are presented in this journal).
Why Hajra's own accounts in recorded media interviews do NOT match up. For example, in one interview she mentioned that Danish took them out for dinner but in another interview she mentioned that Danish took them to Nathia Gali. It is known that it is not possible to drive to Nathia Gali and be back within 1 to 2 hours from Islamabad.
How did Hajra know that there were 6 friends who took the paintings as was mentioned in the FIR, if she was away. And why she was not able to mention any of their names, addresses, or anything else about these ghost friends?
As per the FIR there were 70 to 80 paintings. Any professional artist or people who understand paintings knows that it is impossible to remove that many paintings from the frames, then do the packing, and then transport them within 1 to 2 hours. To do something like this would be considered a major operation requiring several days of work, with containers, and an appropriate vehicle for transportation. Even a regular art show of 20 to 30 paintings can take a few days to arrange logistically.
Who believes that Sir Rahi only did 50 or even 100 paintings during well over half a century of his active career?
Public Notice posted by Saima Malik
Posted in "April 2023"
Response
This was posted as a 'Public Notice' by Saima Malik w/o Jawad Moiz Malik on the 25th of April 2023. It is clear that the perpetrator is saying:
That sixteen paintings were "stolen" (at that time)
That the matter is "under investigation"
That this is a "criminal activity"
However, no police report or FIR was submitted, no details were provided about the painting as promised in the post, and no followups were provided.
It opens up several questions:
1. Who really took the paintings?
2. Why was this matter closed, not followed up?
3. Why no police report was filed?
4. Why didn't the artist (Sir Rahi) say anything about it?
5. What happened to the 'investigation' and the 'criminal activity' as claimed in the post?
6. What documented steps were taken?
7. Why is the daughter claiming to authenticate the paintings without any authority or qualification to do so?
Response
This post was posted by Saima Malik w/o Jawad Moiz Malik on the 16th of August 2023. It shows that the perpetrators are trying to establish a process that includes an "Authentication Certificate".
However, no such certificate was used or approved by Sir Rahi and there are no reports of any issued certificates. A body of registered and qualified resources are required to issue any type of authentic certification.
Secondly, in this case the daughter Saima Malik (who also uses the name Saima Rahi) is acting as a self-proclaimed issuer of such a document. Saima Malik has no authority, academic knowledge, understanding, or experience in reviewing any type of painting or artwork.
Lastly, the same person is indicating "sale/purchase" of Sir Rahi's artwork, proving her intention and interest in such activities for financial gains.
Hajra Mansoor's Recording
Hajra Mansoor who mistreated her husband Sir Rahi and apparently sometimes kept him under influence of unkown substance as proven by medical records and staff at home, also tried multiple times to force Sir Rahi to provide various statements that can be used as proofs against her son, who she and the perpetrators wanted to eliminate from the way. However, despite his illness Sir Rahi continuously refused to say anything or provide any false statements against his son - who he loved and trusted.
Application Submitted at the Police Station
Hajra Mansoor influenced by her daughter Saima Malik and her husband Jawad Moiz, submitted an application at a police station against her own son. She accused him of stealing Sir Rahi's paintings from his residence/studio. This case was pushed with an intention and planning to put Sir Rahi's son behind bars and getting him out of the way.
The application contained a completely false and fabricated story that was created by the perpetrators to make a false case against Sir Rahi's son and engage him in a criminal case instead of the ongoing civil cases, which itself is against the law.
The Islamabad Art Gallery Fiasco
An event held at the Islamabad Art Gallery on June 28th 2024.
This event was held at the Islamabad Art Gallery in the memory of Sir Rahi but it was hijacked by the perpetrators. Saima Malik and mother Hajra Mansoor came with their attorney and the gang members who are helping them in taking over Sir Rahi's assets and properties.
Unlike all other presenters Saima Malik and Hajra Mansoor did not say a single word about Sir Rahi, instead only focused on targeting Sir Rahi's son about the paintings and created a major disruption for the audience.
It is a shame that this platform was provided to them to propagate a sub judice matter publicly, to try to gain public support, and insult Sir Rahi and his son with a false agenda.
Pamphlets Distributed at the Islamabad Art Gallery Event
Responce
This document was distributed as a 1-pager at the event by Saima Malik. And was promoted as a criminal FIR lodged by Sir Rahi's son against Hajra Mansoor accusing her of killing his father.
In fact, this was a page that was taken from a stay order that was filed by Sir Rahi's son to save his father's final resting place in Murree that the accused party is trying to liquidate and sell. They are also trying to dislodge Sir Rahi's grave to be able to sell the land for financial gains.
Secondly, the top paragraph in question was based on the medical reports provided by the hospital and the witnesses at home. Please see 'Treatment at Home' section for more details. It is important to note that they also tried to sue Sir Rahi's son and the hospital (Al-Maroof) - accusing them of making a false death certificate, which was dismissed by the police and refuted by the hospital.
The propaganda and fake campaign about the paintings on social media
Response
This post shown on the left was posted by Saima Malik w/o Jawad Moiz Malik as part of the character assassination campaign (#shameondanish...) based on all false information and fake news.
These frames were sitting in the basement for years and many of these empty frames belong to Hajra's paintings and Sir Rahi's students.
Secondly, it is claimed and documented in the police report that 70 to 80 painting were taken. Hajra Mansoor publicly mentioned 50 paintings at the IAG event in the presence of the audience. However, in this post the perpetrators are claiming that "ALL PAINTINGS" were stolen and only empty frames are left.
Did Sir Rahi only did 50 or 80 paintings during over half a century of his professional career? Sir Rahi did over a thousand paintings and from a rough estimate at least 300 paintings were at his own house.
What happened to the rest of the paintings if only empty frames are left?
Regrading Sir Rahi's health going downhill - please review the 'Treatment at Home' page of the journal.
Major Discrepancy in the Number of Paintings
Since the accusation is false and completely made up, the accusers were not able to maintain the fabricated points and made multiple mistakes in their account of the story including the number of paintings stolen.
Sir Rahi's video shared on social media by Saima Malik, not only proves his mistreatment at home but also shows that he was forced to say "50" paintings. The video is not displayed in respect of Sir.
Hajra mentioned "50" paintings at a public event in F-9 Islamabad in front of many.
The original complaint that was submitted to the police by Hajra mentioned "50" paintings.
The perpetrators mentioned 70 to 80 paintings in the report presented in the court. This does not match the accounts presented previously on at least 3 different mediums, proving that the story was fabricated.
An increase of 20 to 30 paintings is a major discrepancy! It is equivalent of an entire exhibition. For argument sake just 5 to 10 paintings can take hours to remove from their frames and then packed up.
Post on social media account clearly shows a claim that ALL of the paintings were stolen. It is known that Sir Rahi did hundreds if not thousands of paintings throughout his life and at least about 300 paintings were at his house in Islamabad.
Fake Pricing of the Paintings
It was claimed by Saima Malik during a recorded interview that Sir Rahi's paintings used to sell frequently for rupees 50 lac each. The perpetrators used this argument to make it more eye catching for media and police by presenting the total worth of the so-called stolen items to be over one billion rupees.
It is important to note that most of Sir Rahi's paintings were 'not for sale' and the ones that did sell were sold rarely. Even though his work was highly admired and appreciated, his sales remained low mainly due to the subject mater of his work. He never painted to increase his sales but for exploration of his skills and thoughts.
The claim of 50 lac per painting made by Saima Malik in a recorded interview is false because even when Sir Rahi did commission work of large murals or sculptures, which was extremely rare, he was paid much less than that. Even though such work required him to hire an entire team of artists and many months of hard work.
Deliberate damage to multiple paintings
Response on damaged paintings
When Sir Rahi and his son Danish were reviewing Sir Rahi's paintings together - it was noticed with grave concern that several small to medium size paintings were apparently vandalized and damaged.
One of the damaged painting (shown here) was taken by Danish as a sample to study the damage. This painting will be studied by art restoration professionals who specializes in oil painting restoration.
Initial assessment by Danish who holds a professional degree in Design, shows that these paintings were deliberately damaged with the use of a wide paint brush or sponge type object rubbed against the paint with some type of an oil or spirit based chemical such as acetone or a similar chemical. Such chemicals (unlike water based solutions) have the ability to remove oil based paints by diluting the color pigments.
This action is visible on various places of the collected specimen.
Upon questioning Hajra Mansoor, she mentioned to Danish that your father asked me to clean the paintings. Which is hard to believe, as this is not how oil paintings are cleaned.
Danish Rahi's stance
1. Return my father's 300 plus paintings that Hajra Mansoor, Saima Malik, and Jawad Moiz Malik have taken/stolen. And have been covertly selling my father's work. Disclose and return the amount collected by selling his paintings.
2. Publicly apologize for fabricating a false case against me, for openly lying in media and in public, and for hijacking public events held in my fathers memory to insult me and my father, using fake news and open intimidation. And publicly exploiting a family matter.
Statement:
As people may know, despite our differences, I like to avoid dragging family issues onto media and chose to stay quiet out of respect for my mother unless absolutely necessary. Bringing family disputes into the public has never been my choice but in honor of my late father - being the sole son, I do have an obligation to take appropriate measures legally, ethically, and religiously.
Since day-1 I have categorically rejected the baseless allegations about the so-called painting theft. I am saddened by the fact that some people picked up the story without verifying any facts and became part of the character assassination campaign by a few media outlets. I hope to see them do the due diligence before trying to broadcast or publish anything.
It has now become clear to all who the culprits were - The so-called painting theft drama was engineered as a distraction by Jawad Moiz, his wife Saima Malik and their group with the help of Hajra Mansoor to get me out of their way. Their actual agenda was and still is to takeover and liquidate all our movable/immovable assets including all of my father's paintings. As the facts emerged, we now know that this was in progress for last few years and my father along with his work was mistreated and abused. He was deprived of proper medical care, food, and water. He suffered from severe dehydration and malnutrition during his final days. My father would continue to call his wife for hours until tears would run from his eyes, but she preferred watching TikTok in her own room. My father never complained to me and it was too late when I found out about the extent of these horrific acts. These vultures were all waiting for my father to die.
My mother always had professional jealousy towards my father as well as my khala Rabia Zuberi (late), who was a renowned artist - but I could never have imagined it can reach such an extreme. Hajra Mansoor continued selling my father's work without his knowledge - Saima Malik and her husband took many of his paintings to the US, without my father's knowledge or consent.
I’d like to point out that it was exacerbated when publicized through media and an event on June 28th at the Islamabad Art Gallery in F-9 Islamabad. That event was supposed to be in the memory of my late father but instead was served as a platform to publicly attack and accuse me. In fact it was insulting for the organizers and the other speakers as well who came to pay their respects and share their honest thoughts and memories but were instead used to orchestrate the event. I was taken aback in a state of shock because the apparent purpose as it looked like a setup to deliberately malign and accuse me publicly, which was evident from the presence of their lawyer who didnt stop them from publicly propagating a subjudice matter, and the propaganda material circulated by hand. They even had the people from Jawad Moiiz group sitting at the back who had nothing to do with arts or any art related activity.
Any honest person who attended the event should be able to verify this. As well as the fact that what I said when called upon to speak vs what they said. Despite one being the wife and other the daughter - these people couldn't speak a single word about my father, instead they directly and aggressively went after the so-called painting theft issue. To me, this alone should be enough evidence. Despite the situation, me and my wife remained composed and chose to leave. We did not escalate the situation, which we easily could have - and this was all witnessed by the audience.
Fact of the matter is that the entire report that was submitted to police by Hajra Mansoor and her group was 100% false and made-up. Unfortunately, me and my father were able to secure only some of his paintings over the course of many years. Either, he would ask me to take a painting or he would bring few himself during his visit to my house. He also painted frequently at my house, which of course was his house as well.
I stand as the only blocker in their way. The painting issue till now helped them in not only keeping the focus away from the actual game they were playing but helped in carving public perceptions against me. But with the grace of Allah and with the blessings of my innocent father - the facts emerged and they lost the case. Allah turned the entire situation against them. I now have the legal positioning to trigger legal action against them and push them behind bars. I have been advised by several senior and knowledgable allies to proceed. But what they may not understand - I am a true Rahi, I am proudly shackled by the teachings of my great father, and must continue to uphold his teachings of integrity, kindness, and forgiveness. But our continued efforts for peace should not be confused with anything else but peace. For now, we will continue to monitor the redlines, and any breach will be taken as a justification to respond through legal channels.
With unexplainable feelings similar to sadness, shock, anger, and surprise, these women have definitely succeeded in setting up the worst possible example of being a mother and a sister. And indeed it challenges the entire paradigm of a family nucleus as we know it. I researched such an extreme human behavior and unfortunately was able to find a few examples of similar but very rare acts in human societies. Though, I was not able to find any justification. It is not easy to explain but such covert hatred towards ones own husband, son, and brother may remain a painful mystery to me.
But yes, there is one thing I am very clear about - even if the world turns against me - I will continue to defend my innocent yet amazingly powerful father, his legacy, his assets, and his every single memory. He will live in me and my children forever - I will never let him down.
I am truly humbled by the tremendous support, understanding, and guidance of so many from the art communities, legal circles, law enforcement, relatives, religious leaders, and friends and students of my father. Many I have not spoken to in years or have never met or met when I was a child, you all are simply amazing! I don’t have words to express my gratitude.
Thank you,
Danish Rahi
The public statement published by Saima Malik not only confirms her acknowledgment of losing the case but it clearly shows a serious allegation of bribery on a top-level police official. And once again there is no evidence or proof.
Response from Danish Rahi:
"I strongly reject the baseless bribe allegation. We have not engaged in any such actions and fully understand the legal ramifications of such conduct. After going through the entire process, we believe the police and relevant agencies acted in accordance with their protocols and based on merit."
This case was officially concluded in the favor of Danish on March 25th 2025
